Rename Email Address Via Yahoo Wish List

As we already stated in our previous blog post that from 15th July 2013 Yahoo decided to give a chance only for active users to rename their email addresses. So, the time now has come to pickup your desired simple usernames.

How to Change Yahoo Username

As you know it is complete procedure based on 3 steps which depends on a specific period of time. In a first step Yahoo deleted all inactive account after warning a month before implementation. Now it is second stage started from now to 7th of August 2013, in which only Yahoo active users will have the opportunity to rename email address to simple and easy to remember usernames if they are senseless. For example from name_2121@yahoo.com to name@yahoo.com.

To change email address you need to visit Yahoo Wish List. Put your desired usernames in first field but, make sure that the username must be between 4 and 32 characters long and will contain only letters, numbers, underscores, and one dot (.) are allowed. You can add up to a maximum of five username in wish list and; don't forget to order them by preference. In the second field enter your current active email account Id. Press Submit.

In mid of August Yahoo will let you inform about your available desired names with claim link and, you should need to do response with in 2 days to grab it. After that you need claim Wish list usernames allocated on a first come first served basis, limited to one per person. So, if you're first in line for a username, Yahoo will email you a link to claim it in mid-August, 2013.

If you are worrying what will happen to my accounts on social networking sites or on any other platforms based on yahoo primary address? Then don't worry because yahoo also explained about it in their blog.
If a Facebook user with a Yahoo! email account submits a request to reset their password, Facebook would add the Require-Recipient-Valid-Since header to the reset email, and the new header would signal to Yahoo! to check the age of the account before delivering the mail. Facebook users typically confirm their email when they sign up for the service or add new emails to their account, and if the “last confirmed” date that Facebook specifies in the Require-Recipient-Valid-Since header is before the date of the new Yahoo! username ownership, then the email will not be delivered and will instead bounce back to Facebook, who will then contact the user by other means.

Keep visiting our blog, once the process get completed, we will write a complete descriptive post on all the consequences of this email rebranding.

  1. This is about getting a new ID not changing the existing one, right?
