This success is achieve by using a powerful chip, and by using this chip on phone, your phone will become able to see through walls, woods, plastics, etc. Although doctors can also use this technology to see inside the body, and the benefit of using this technology is that it can also helps to detect cancer tumors and are cheap in comparison to harmful x-rays and or MRI. 
CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) are a new model of regular chips. There are multiple of benefits of this technology. It can also be use in business to detect invalid currency, by connecting this chip with phone or any device it can also be use as an x-ray. Basically first time Electromagnetic Spectrum having wavelength between microwave and infrared is use for common users, and it is known as Terahertz. In this new method with the help of signals within a range of Terahertz X-ray image is obtained, and thus it gives image without usage of multiple lenses and radiation of x-ray. And by this cost and size both minimizes.

For the manufacturing of this chip a new technology is also been made for it. CMOS means Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor, this chip is also use in electric devices, for example personal computers, smart phones, High definition TV, game console, etc, and after improvement this chip is made to work also as for x-ray. Or simply understand that it is a compound of terahertz and CMOS.

Now the problem is that anybody which connects this chip with his phone can able to see many things, and in result privacy and moral questions will arise. Currently it is only accessible at the range of 4 inches; inventors specially take care of this. Although there is also a possibility of wide range.
